In this episode of The NCGE Podcast, NCGE director Jennifer McKenzie meets with Dr Deirdre Hughes, OBE. Deirdre discusses her background and origins in Guidance, ongoing developments and research in the UK, and the four key principles which inform her work:
 

  • Keeping people switched onto learning
  • Encouraging people not to close down opportunities too early
  • Broadening horizons and challenging assumptions 
  • Creating relevant exposure to, and experiences of, the world of work
     

Dr Hughes provides some wise words of advice for guidance community in Ireland, including to remember “the art of the possible” and to look after ourselves!
