The National Centre for Guidance in Education (NCGE) will cease to operate from 1st September 2022.
The NCGE and its Management Committee, Léargas, the Department of Education, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Solas and ETBI have been carrying out significant work since earlier this year to prepare for the reorganisation of guidance support. A Transitions Working Group and additional sub-groups have been meeting regularly to co-ordinate the reorganisation.

(Covid-19) "Review of Academic Year" (Reflection Resource for Staff)

This resource has been developed by NCGE, in consultation with the DES, to support Guidance Counsellors in reflecting on all aspects of Guidance for the academic year 2019/2020.
Due to Covid19, this academic year involved the provision of ‘remote’ Guidance over a period of approximately eight weeks for the first time in the history of the Irish education system. This ‘Review of Academic Year’ resource supports Guidance Counsellors (and the Guidance Planning Team), in reviewing all aspects of the Guidance Service with reference to Whole School Guidance and the Continuum of Guidance (per Whole School Guidance Framework Document, 2017). This resource aims to support reflection on all aspects of Guidance provision and serve as a reference document for future planning.
