A Checklist for Guidance Counsellors: transitioning back to school in academic year 2020-2021

This resource aims to support Guidance Counsellors in their thinking and planning as they return to school for academic year 2020-2021. This checklist provides some ideas for Guidance Counsellors to discuss with their Student Support Teams and school management in order for the transition back to school to be as seamless as possible, given the school closures in March 2020. This checklist is not meant to be prescriptive nor final and activities and discussions will differ in each school, in line with local circumstances and student needs.

Digitalised Guidance Planning (template)

This resource was developed in response to requests from several Guidance Counsellors asking for a template or insert on Digitalised Guidance for the Whole School Guidance Plan. This resource provides some suggestions for what Guidance Counsellors and School Management might discuss and agree to add to a Whole School Guidance Plan. This resource makes suggestions for schools based on all Department publications up to September 2020. This template and any other insert(s) into the Whole School Guidance plan should be reviewed regularly (e.g. on an annual basis).
