The National Centre for Guidance in Education (NCGE) will cease to operate from 1st September 2022.
The NCGE and its Management Committee, Léargas, the Department of Education, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Solas and ETBI have been carrying out significant work since earlier this year to prepare for the reorganisation of guidance support. A Transitions Working Group and additional sub-groups have been meeting regularly to co-ordinate the reorganisation.

National Forum on Guidance

The National Forum on Guidance provides an informal communication and cooperation facility for those involved in the provision of guidance and the development and support of guidance practitioners and services.

NCGE, through hosting the Forum, strive to empower guidance stakeholders in the performance of their role. In doing this we seek to bring topics to stakeholders attention of genuine relevance and interest. Participants include organisations and individuals providing and supporting guidance delivery in both the education and the public employment sector. Each Forum is intended to inspire participants - in their practice, in their work developing guidance related policies or simply in returning to their organisation with a greater comprehension of the overarching societal function guidance performs.

Each Fora also attempts to promote the expansion of the ‘Guidance Community’ by involving sector representation not traditionally perceived as being ‘guidance impacting’. Following the Forum a ‘report of discussions’ is produced, published here and disseminated to participants and the wider guidance community.

Details pertaining to the latest Forum are below.
