NATIONAL FORUM ON GUIDANCE 2013/2014

The DES and NCGE Management of Guidance Committee approved the continuation of the National Forum on Guidance for these two years, to coincide with our membership of the ELGPN.

NCGE as designated representative for Ireland continued with full ELGPN membership and became members of the Steering Group for the 2013/14 Work Programme.
As Ireland hosted the EU Presidency for January to June 2013, NCGE became Chair of the Steering Group for these six months.
Following the final meeting of the National Forum on Guidance 2011/12, held on the 16th of October 2012 and based on the evaluation and comments from members at the meeting, NCGE proposed to the Department that the Forum would continue in the following format:

  • Four meetings – two in 2013 and two in 2014
  • Organisations were invited to participate in wider discussions at the forum meeting
  • A nominated representative and sub from each organisation was invited to form the subgroup to ensure structured planning and appropriate representation from all concerned.

NCGE invited members of the Forum to participate in a programme to test the ELGPN Lifelong Guidance Policy Development: A European Resource Kit.

The First Meeting of the National Forum on Guidance 2013/14  was held on Friday 1st March, 2013 at the National Conference on Guidance where Minister Ruairí Quinn formally launched the testing of the European Resource Kit.
