Léargas, the Irish National Agency for Erasmus+, was contacted by colleagues in Denmark this week (12/08/2019) regarding an upcoming training opportunity for SCHOOL GUIDANCE PRACTITIONERS.
NCGE would like to bring this to your attention.
This activity is a hosted study visit (in Denmark) for Guidance Counsellors, school leaders and teachers who work with education and guidance in secondary level education (in a Danish context - specifically pupils 13-16 years).
Activity dates: 30/09/2019 to 02/10/2019
The main topic of the thematic activity is career learning and career guidance in secondary education and the transition from lower to upper secondary education (roughly parallel to the transition from Junior Cycle to Senior Cycle in Ireland).
It will look to address questions such as;
- How can career learning be actively implemented in lower and upper secondary education ?
- When should it start?
- Which teaching competences are needed and which factors play an important role?
The visit will also look at/touch upon career learning as a method to foster student retention and the prevention of early school leaving among secondary pupils.
The programme will include introductions and presentations on the first day and later there will be visits to Danish schools, institutions and projects, which work with career learning and career guidance in secondary education.
All participants are expected to contribute actively to the discussions and exchange experiences and best practice.
