The Europass Portfolio
The Europass Portfolio will become a key item in the range of guidance supports used by learners in Europe. The five documents contained in the portfolio are:

The Europass CV (ECV)
The Europass Language Portfolio (ELP)
The Europass Certificate Supplement (ECS)
The Europass Diploma Supplement (EDS)
Europass Mobility (EM)

It is important to note that the ECV and ELP are documents which the individual will complete and update as appropriate. The other three documents are provided by third parties and cannot be amended by the individual.

The National Europass Centre (NEC)
There will be a single body in each country which will be responsible for the coordination and promotion of Europass. The National Qualifications Authority of Ireland has been designated as the organisation in Ireland. The key tasks of the NEC are to:

Coordinate, in cooperation with the relevant national bodies, the activities related to making available or issuing the Europass documents
Ensure that adequate information and promotional activities are carried out at national level to promote awareness and use of Europass
Set up and run a national internet site for Europass closely linked to the Europass Portal and other relevant sites
Ensure that information and guidance centres and operators are adequately informed on the Europass
Attend Europass networking meetings to support and contribute to the Europass initiative throughout Europe.
