Study Visits - Academia

Academia is the network of guidance organisations in Europe who organise a one week study visit for guidance practitioners as part of the Lifelong Learning Programme (VETpro Mobility). NCGE co-ordinates the sending of Irish guidance practitioners and hosting of European guidance practitioners to Ireland.

The programme is called Academia - Exchange of Guidance Practitioners and is open to all those with a qualification in guidance. Academia offers the participants a chance to get to know the guidance system and guidance practices in another European country. Every year about 250 guidance practitioners from across the EU take part in Academia exchanges (in groups of about 10 participants).

Applications for Irish practitioners to take part in the exchange are normally sought in October - November each year.  When applying, guidance practitioners are asked to select three study visits from the Academia catalogue. The study visits take place between March and May each year. Successful applicants will receive a grant allowance towards the cost of travel and subsistence.

We regret to inform you we are unable to offer any funding for study visits for the current academic year (2015-2016).

The next Academia programme will be rolled out in 2016 with a host visit for European Guidance Counsellors to Ireland set to take place in Spring 2017.
