12th Plenary Meeting

The 12th Plenary Meeting and 1st Policy Review Meeting of the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network, an associated event of the Irish Presidency for the EU, took place in Dublin on the 27th and 28th February 2013.

This meeting was attended by Dr Raimo Vuorinen, EU Commission representatives Koen Nomden and Susanne Kratz,  representatives of CEDEFOP, members of the ELGPN, observers and invited guests and was launched by Mr. Ciarán Cannon TD, Minister with responsibility for Training and Skills. Opening the meeting, Minister Cannon welcomed the guests by saying;

" I would like to acknowledge the co-operation and the active participation of all those involved in the ELGPN. The success of the ELGPN to date highlights that the open method of co-ordination and structured peer learning activities can support developments across the EU. I welcome the lighting of your new ELGPN candle here today in Dublin as a symbol of the continuity of your work across your Membership countries."Minister CiarĂ¡n Cannon TD and Jennifer McKenzie, NCGE at 12th Plenary Meeting, ELGPN

Referring to his involvement with the National Forum on Guidance since 2011, Minister Cannon said

"Returning to the major work of the ELGPN in the next two years, I look forward to receiving your report on the results of the Testing of the European Resource Kit, which will be the focus of the ELGPN programme for 2013-14. Ireland will include a focus on quality assurance and evidence based practice in guidance. This will help to inform our policies on guidance in to the future, including the development of appropriate guidance within the further education and training sector."
